Create your Film in Oman campaign launched at Expo 2020
The event was organised by the Oman Film and Theatre Society to help showcase all that the country has to offer to filmmakers.

Muscat: 15 films were screened by the Oman Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, between 26 and 28 December, as part of efforts to promote the “Create your Film in Oman” initiative.

The effort aims to get more filmmakers to come to Oman and shoot their productions in the midst of the country’s natural beauty and varied terrain, while also providing more technical opportunities for people in the country. The event was organised by the Oman Film and Theatre Society to help showcase all that the country has to offer to filmmakers.

The event also happened to be planned around World Cinema Day, which was also commemorated at the Expo.

“On the occasion of World Cinema Day, a number of Omani directors who won awards at international festivals were honoured during the visit of the members of the Film and Theatre Society to the Sultanate’s pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020 to promote the ‘Create your Film in Oman’ campaign,” said a statement from the team at Oman’s pavilion.

To encourage Omani students to experience the myriad cultures from all over the world that are present in Dubai during the expo, a trip was organised for them to travel to the event, by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.

The trip aims to open the doors of communication with Omani youth and provide them with new experiences when they visit the pavilions, which contributes to increasing their knowledge, said Oman News Agency.

On the sidelines of the visit, the students attended the closing of the film festival, which was held under the patronage of His Excellency Saeed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Culture at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
