OCCI approves establishment of joint Omani-Bahraini company

Muscat: The board of directors of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), in its 6th meeting for 2021, gave the go-ahead to the establishment of a joint Omani-Bahraini company with a capital of OMR10 million.

The company will comprise chambers of commerce and businessmen from both countries.

The meeting was chaired by Eng. Ridha Juma Al Saleh, Chairman of OCCI.

The Board agreed to provide annual funding of RO 5,000 to the “Made in Oman” campaign. The move aims to support, develop and expand the presence of Omani products to compete locally, regionally and internationally.

The meeting also discussed the aspirations of the private sector about the current circumstances and the decisions taken by government units.

The board is currently preparing a comparative study on the fees imposed on the private sector in Oman and the rest of the GCC countries, in addition to putting forward some proposals that boost the economy and empower the private sector.

The board also discussed the importance of establishing a centre for exhibitions and conventions in the Governorate of Dhofar.

OCCI will invest in various stock portfolios regionally and internationally.

The meeting also approved initiatives for OCCI members, who hold “Riada” cards, by bearing 50 per cent of the cost of participation in exhibitions organized by the chamber in Oman and abroad.
