MSX index ends marginally lower

MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,136.24 points, down 0.12 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 1.27 per cent at 529.86 points.

Al Anwar Ceramics, up 2.86 per cent, was the top gainer while, Oman Flour Mills down 8.12 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of OIFC were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 553 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3.14 million, with more than 15.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 45 traded securities, 10 advanced, 10 declined and 25 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR62,000 while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR62,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR0.3000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,596.46 points, down 0.13 per cent. Muscat Finance, United Finance and Global Investment Holding were up 1.75 per cent, 1.69 per cent and 1.64 per cent, respectively. Al Anwar Investment, Al Sharqia Investment and Bank Muscat were down 2.11 per cent, 1.09 per cent and 0.81 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,024.67 points, down 0.93 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramics and NAPI were up 2.86 per cent and 0.76 per cent respectively. Oman Flour Mills, Asaffa Foods, Al Maha Ceramics and Oman Cement were down 8.12 per cent, 4.04 per cent, 3.35 per cent and 0.81 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.29 per cent before closing at 1,628.50 points. Al Jazeera Services, Omantel, Renaissance Services, OIFC and Ooredoo were up 1.16 per cent, 1.07 per cent, 0.92 per cent, 0.68 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively. Al Suwadi Power and National Gas were down 2.04 per cent and 1.55 per cent respectively.
