Muscat : The Sultanate of Oman will be affected by a trough of low pressure from Wednesday, lasting for several days, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said on Tuesday.

The weather will be cloudy over the governorates of Musandam, North Al Batinah with chances of rain (50-100 mm) occasional thundershowers, fresh winds, flash floods in valleys, and chances of rainfall (10-25 mm) over the governorates of South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhliyah, South Al Sharqiyah and North Al Sharqiyah.

Moderate sea conditions are forecast along most of the Sultanate’s coasts with a maximum wave height of two metres. Conditions may become rough during thundershowers along the coastal areas of Musandam Governorate and Oman Sea coast with a maximum wave height of three metres.

The Civil Aviation Authority advised all to take precautions during rainfall and to check the sea state before sailing.

Meanwhile, parts of Muscat Governorate witnessed isolated rainfall on Tuesday. “When I woke up, it was drizzling. The weather was so nice,” Suresh Kumar, a resident of Ruwi said.

A statement from Oman Meteorology said, “Clouds intensified over the coastal areas on Oman and several places witnessed scattered rainfall.”
