MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,104.90 points, down 0.42 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.04 per cent at 536.12 points.

Global Investment Holding, up 1.67 per cent was the top gainer while, United Finance down 6.67 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Sohar International Bank were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 384 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.49 million, with more than 6.64 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, 6 advanced, 16 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, Domestic investors were net buyers for OMR148,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR88,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR58,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,558.47 points, down 0.61 per cent. Global Investment Holding, Al Sharqia Investment and Ominvest were up 1.67 per cent, 1.15 per cent and 0.66 per cent respectively. United Finance, Oman Arab Bank, Muscat Finance, Oman & Emirates Holding and Bank Nizwa were down 6.67 per cent, 3.61 per cent, 3.51 per cent, 1.64 per cent and 1.02 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,053.95 points, down 0.48 per cent. NAPI, Raysut Cement, Jazeera Steel Product, Al Anwar Ceramics and Oman Cement were down 5.11 per cent, 1.19 per cent, 1.10 per cent, 0.99 per cent and 0.82 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.01 per cent before closing at 1,612.16 points. Ooredoo, OIFC and Muscat Gases were up 1.08 per cent, 0.69 per cent and 0.61 per cent respectively. Renaissance Services was the only loser by 1.40 per cent.
