MSX index ends marginally lower

MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,122.42 points, down 0.06 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.50 per cent at 536.34 points.

Al Maha Marketing, up 6.79 per cent was the top gainer while, Oman & Emirates Holding down 6.15 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Ominvest Perpetual Sukuk were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 237 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.76 million, with more than 5.85 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded securities, 9 advanced, 14 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR17,000 while domestic investors were net buyers for OMR38,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR21,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,598.92 points, down 0.02 per cent. Oman & Qatar Insurance, Al Sharqia Investment, Oman United Insurance and National Bank Oman were up 2.88 per cent, 2.35 per cent, 2.25 per cent and 2.09 per cent respectively. Oman & Emirates Holding, Global Investment Holding, Taageer Finance, Madina Takaful and Sohar International Bank were down 6.15 per cent, 1.64 per cent, 1.39 per cent, 1.04 per cent and 0.87 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,082.86 points, down 0.13 per cent. Raysut Cement and Al Anwar Ceramics were up 2.43 per cent and 1.50 per cent respectively. Al Maha Ceramics and Galfar Engineering were down 3.16 per cent and 2.67 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.51 per cent before closing at 1,611.98 points. Al Maha Marketing, Ooredoo and Renaissance Services were up 6.79 per cent, 0.54 per cent and 0.47 per cent respectively. SMN Power Holding, OIFC, Al Jazeera Services and Oman National Engineering were down 4.44 per cent, 1.37 per cent, 1.16 per cent and 1.10 per cent respectively.
