6 agreements signed to speed up Youth Centre project

Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage, Sports and Youth has signed 6 partnership agreements to accelerate the implementation of the Youth Centre project.

The Ministry said: "His Excellency Basil Al Rawas, Undersecretary for Sports and Youth, signs 6 strategic, technical and logistical partnership agreements with a number of government and private sector institutions."

Al Rawas added: "Youth will be involved in the various stages of implementation, from design to the readiness of the youth centre, and it will be opened during the first half of 2022 AD. This will be preceded by the launch of a number of programs and initiatives in cooperation with a number of youth institutions in the Sultanate to serve the sector."

The ministry explained that the centre is friendly to people with disabilities and is equipped with the necessary capabilities for them. It covers all governorates with its branches, and works to create appropriate environments for young people and their ambitions, and is characterised by flexibility.

The Ministry has signed partnership agreements with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority to establish and operate a business incubator for small and medium enterprises run by young people. The ministry also signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Petroleum Development Oman and Occidental Oman to establish an electronic platform to support young people in the field of self-employment, transfer the company’s knowledge and experiences to youth through the center’s activities and programs, and establish a clean energy laboratory.

A technical partnership agreement was signed with the Omani Telecommunications and Information Technology Group to develop the center's technical system, provide modern and advanced technologies and applications for the youth in the center, and provide advisory services in the areas of startup companies.

In addition, The Ministry signed a logistical partnership agreement with Tilal Development Company (Muscat Grand Mall), according to which the company will host the center and provide services and logistical facilities during the initial work stages.
