Social Development Minister meets with Algerian counterpart

Riyadh: Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development yesterday met with Kawthar Kriko, Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Issues of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

The meeting came on the sidelines of the deliberations of the 41st session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

The two sides discussed aspects of cooperation between their ministries on fields related to the economic empowerment of women, services for persons with disabilities and services to the elderly, as well as motherhood, childhood and family in general.

The two sides also reviewed other areas of interest to the Ministry of Social Development and ways to enhance them and exchange experiences in various social fields.

During her visit to the Domestic Violence Reporting Center, Dr. Laila Al Najjar was briefed on the experience of KSA in the field of women and child protection.

She also listened to a comprehensive explanation of the work mechanism starting from receiving the call, direct intervention by the center and the authorities concerned, and means to provide protection, rehabilitation and reform.

Dr. Laila Al Najjar visited the Autism Center of Excellence (ACE), which is one of the exemplary centers in its field.

The Minister of Social Development praised the volume of services rendered in both centres. She noted that it is an experience worth benefiting from and implementing in the future.
