Muscat: The Maritime Security System has been activated at the Command and Control Centre in North Al Batinah Governorate on Monday, December 20, 2021

A statement issued online by Ministry of Defence (MoD), said :"A ceremony was held on Monday to activate the Maritime Security System at the Command and Control Centre in the Governorate of North Al Batinah, as part of the construction of the integrated radar system to detect and track the various maritime activities associated with the command and control centres in the  ports of the Sultanate of Oman.

The aim is to cover all the coasts of the Sultanate and to enhance the safety of international shipping lines, and to raise the degrees of safety of the Sultanate's ports in international trade in order to enhance the efficiency of the investment environment in the Sultanate."

 The ceremony, which was held in Sohar Port, was held under the patronage of Brigadier General Tariq bin Issa Al Raisi, Acting Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman.

 The Command and Control Centre in the Governorate of North Al Batinah contributes to the maritime security system in the Sultanate of Oman along with the rest of the centres, which will be activated sequentially in support of the national maritime security system of the Sultanate of Oman.

 This strategic project of devices and equipment also provides the various technical requirements that enable the Maritime Security Centre to perform its national tasks and duties with all competence, in cooperation and coordination with the military and security authorities.

This project also has a prominent role in addressing non-military risks and various maritime threats such as piracy, illegal fishing, drug trafficking and other maritime risks in order to maintain security and stability in the region.
