Muscat: If you are planning to travel to the Sultanate of Oman, there are a new set of rules and guidelines issued by the Civil Aviation Authority which you will need to follow.

The latest rules and guidelines are as follows:

1. Passengers from South Africa , Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe , Lesotho, Eswatini , and Mozambique are not allowed to enter. This also applies for passengers who have been in these countries for the past 14 days. Omani citizens, diplomats, health workers and their families are excluded from the decision, as well as citizens of the above said countries who have valid residence in Oman. All those excluded from this decision, including Omani citizens, are subject to COVID-19 PCR test upon arrival and mandatory seven days’ institutional quarantine with COVID-19 PCR test on the sixth day.
Passengers must register at https://covid19.emushrif.om/ before departure.

     This does not apply to passengers with a diplomatic passport travelling on duty.
    Passengers younger than 18 years

2. Passengers must have health insurance to cover COVID-19 expenses for at least 1 month.

     This does not apply to nationals of Oman.

3. Passengers must have:

     a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken at most 96 hours before arrival if arriving on a flight that takes 8 hours or more (including transit); or
     a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken at most 72 hours before arrival if arriving on a flight that takes less than 8 hours. The test must have a QR code or be approved by the authorities in the country of departure; and
     be uploaded at https://covid19.emushrif.om/
     This does not apply to:
     passengers younger than 18 years;
     passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Covishield, Janssen, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinopharm, Sinovac or Sputnik at least 14 days before arrival. These passengers will be subject to PCR test on arrival if not holding pre pre-departure negative PCR report.
    Passengers who have received two doses of COVAXIN before not less than fourteen (14) days ahead of estimated arrival time are accepted to travel to the sultanate, without quarantine taking into consideration the required PCR test and all other requirements/conditions applied to the passengers with the approved vaccines.
    The certificate must have a QR code or be approved by the authorities in the country of departure; and
     be uploaded at https://covid19.emushrif.om/

4. Passengers are subject to a PCR test upon arrival which must be paid before departure via https://covid19.emushrif.om/

     This does not apply to:
     passengers younger than 18 years;
     passengers with:
     a COVID-19 vaccination certificate vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Covishield, Janssen, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinopharm, Sinovac or Sputnik at least 14 days before arrival; and
     a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken at most 96 hours before arrival if arriving on a flight that takes 8 hours or more (including transit), or a negative PCR test taken at most 72 hours before arrival if arriving on a flight that takes less than 8 hours.
    The certificate and the test must have a QR code or be approved by the authorities in the country of departure; and
     be uploaded at https://covid19.emushrif.om/

5. Passengers could be subject to quarantine.

     This does not apply to passengers with a COVID-19 vaccination certificate showing that they were fully vaccinated with AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Covishield, Janssen, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech (Comirnaty), Sinopharm, Sinovac or Sputnik at least 14 days before arrival.
    The certificate must have a QR code or be approved by the authorities in the country of departure; and
     be uploaded at https://covid19.emushrif.om/

Approved vaccines in Oman:
Pfizer (2 doses), AstraZeneca (2 doses), Johnson & Johnson (1 dose), Sinovac (2 doses), Moderna (2 doses), Sputnik V. (2 doses), Sinopharm (2 doses), Covisheild (2 doses).
1-Fully Vaccinated arrivals with negative test result pre-arrival:

    Upload the vaccine certificate with the QR code through: https://covid19.emushrif.om/
    Present the travel request form Travel Registration Form (TRF) upon arrival.

2-Fully Vaccinated arrivals with no PCR test:

    Register through: https://covid19.emushrif.om/
    Upload the vaccine certificate (with QR) through: https://covid19.emushrif.om/
    Present the travel request form Travel Registration Form (TRF) upon arrival.
    Undergo PCR test upon arrival.
    You will be fitted with a wristband & quarantine until the test result is released.
    If tested negative, the wristband must be returned to the nearest health center or private hospital to be removed.
    If tested positive, arrivals must continue to quarantine for 10 days.

3-Non-vaccinated arrivals (Residents):

    Register through: https://covid19.emushrif.om/
    Upload a negative PCR test result with QR code pre-arrival through: https://covid19.emushrif.om/
    Book an institutional quarantine (unless exempted) through: https://covid19.emushrif.om/
    Present the travel request form Travel Registration Form (TRF) upon arrival.
    Undergo PCR test upon arrival.
    Institutional quarantine for 7 days.
    PCR test is required on the 8th day.
    If tested positive, residents must quarantine for an additional 10 days.

4-Non-vaccinated arrivals (Omani nationals):

    Register through: https://covid19.emushrif.om/
    Upload a negative PCR test result with QR code pre-arrival through: https://covid19.emushrif.om/
    Undergo PCR test upon arrival.
    Home quarantine for 7 days.
    PCR test is required on the 8th day.
    If tested positive, residents must quarantine for an additional 10 days.

Travel of the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates citizens between the two countries:
Citizens of the Sultanate of Oman and the UAE when are travelling between the two countries shall present the registration certificate in (https://covid19.emushrif.om/) with upload of a covid-19 vaccination certificate as approved in the Sultanate of Oman and a negative result of COVID-19 PCR test conducted within fourteen (14) days prior to the scheduled time of arrival in the Sultanate of Oman.

Second: Verification of passengers’ documents before travel to the Sultanate of Oman:
1. Aircraft operators shall verify that any passenger travelling to the Sultanate of Oman has met the requirements.
2. Air operators shall notify the passengers, prior to arrival, to prepare their documents for verification by the immigration and upon request by the airport staff.
3. Aircraft operators shall be fined in the event of carrying a passenger who has not met the travel requirements to the Sultanate of Oman.

Third: Passengers’ documents to be verified by aircraft operators prior to travel to the Sultanate of Oman :
1. If vaccinated as per follow all rules for vaccinated passenger
a) Registration in (https://covid19.emushrif.om/).
b) Vaccination Certificate.
c) A negative result of COVID-19 PCR test, or a reservation for Covid-19 PCR test upon arrival to the Sultanate of Oman.

2. If NOT vaccinated
a) Registration in (https://covid19.emushrif.om/).
b) Negative result of COVID-19 PCR test as per the CAA Circular No. 20/2021:
c) Reservation for Covid-19 PCR test upon arrival to the Sultanate of Oman.
d) Confirmed reservation of institutional quarantine except for Omani citizens and other categories excluded from the institutional quarantine.
