Muscat: There has been a 27.8 per cent increase in the number of micro, small and medium enterprises in the Sultanate by the end of last October.

The total number of micro, small and medium enterprises registered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority at the end of last October increased by 27.8 per cent to 60,340, compared to 47,220 during the same period in 2020, according to data issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information.

Muscat Governorate ranked first in the number of micro, small and medium enterprises with 20,422 establishments, an increase of 29.2 per cent, followed by the North Al Batinah Governorate with a total of 9,508 establishments, an increase of 27.5 per cent, while Al Dakhiliyah Governorate ranked third with 7,382 establishments, an increase of 23.8 per cent, while in the Dhofar Governorate it amounted to 5088 institutions, an increase of 29.1 per cent.

The total number of establishments in the Governorate of South Al Batinah increased to 4,613, an increase of 30.9 per cent, by the end of October 2021, compared to the same period last year, while the total number of establishments in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate reached 3,973 establishments, an increase of 24.9 per cent, and in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah, the number of micro-enterprises reached And small and medium-sized 3,624 institutions, an increase of 30.5 per cent.

In Al Dhahirah Governorate, the total amounted to 3,348 establishments, an increase of 21.3 per cent. In the Buraimi Governorate, it amounted to 1,282 establishments, an increase of 26.3 per cent. The number in Al Wusta Governorate reached 801 establishments, an increase of 31.1 per cent. The number in Musandam Governorate reached 299 establishments at the end of October 2021, an increase of 64.3 per cent
