Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, in cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain, organised a celebration at the United Nations in New York on the occasion of the International Day of the Arabic Language, which falls on December 18 annually.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed during the celebration that the Arabic language is one of the oldest languages spoken by humans since the dawn of history, linking about two billion Muslims and contributing to communication between people through literature, poetry and philosophy.
