Muscat: A woman in her seventies was infected with the black fungus after it was confirmed that she was infected with Covid-19, and a medical team at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital was able to diagnose and treat her.

Oman News Agency, ONA, said: “A specialised medical team at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital was able to diagnose and treat a woman in her seventies who had contracted the black fungus after it was confirmed that she had been infected with Covid-19, as she was diagnosed by endoscopic sinus surgery and it was confirmed that she had the black fungus.”

Dr. Mohammad bin Khalfan Al-Washahi, a consultant endoscopy in sinus and skull base diseases, head of the medical team, told the ONA: "The diagnosis showed the spread of black fungus and erosion of the frontal bone on the patient's brain.
