Citizen arrested for supplying date palm offshoots in Oman

Muscat: A citizen who transferred a number of date palm offshoots in the Wilayat of Suwaiq in North Al Batinah Governorate has been arrested, the Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources said

"The judicial control officers in the Control Department were able to arrest a citizen who transferred a number of palm offshoots in the Wilayat of Suwaiq without observing the legally defined controls and they are being examined to complete the procedures. The danger lies in transferring the offshoots because of its negative effects on the infestation of the red palm weevil," the Ministry said in a statement.
