Muscat: The Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman has received at Seeb Air Base the body of Petty Officer Ali bin Abdul Rahman Al Balushi.
"Rear Admiral Saif bin Nasser Al Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman, received at Seeb Air Base the body of Petty Officer Ali bin Abdul Rahman Al Balushi, a member of the Royal Navy of Oman, who passed away while performing his patriotic duty onboard one of the ships of the Royal Navy of Oman participating in the joint naval exercise (A’Thamar Al Tayab ), which is currently being carried out by the Royal Navy of Oman with the Pakistani Navy," Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.
Petty Officer Ali bin Abdul Rahman Al Balushi was participated with the crew in anchoring the ship on the quayside, which led to his injury as a result of the sudden cutting of the mooring rope and its rapid rebound towards the crew, causing him a serious injury that led to death.
The body arrived on board a military aircraft of the Pakistani armed forces, and was also received by a number of senior officers of the Royal Navy of Oman, as was the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan accredited to the Sultanate of Oman, and the military attaché at the Pakistani Embassy in Muscat.
