MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,987.09 points, down 0.53 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.32 per cent at 532.77 points.

Dhofar Generating, was the top gainer 8.57 per cent while, Oman Fisheries down 4.55 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Ahli Bank were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 236 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR3 million, with more than 8.53 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, 8 advanced, 12 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, domestic investors were net sellers for OMR1.52 million while foreign investors were net buyers for OMR1.5 million followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR13,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,380.23 points, down 0.26 per cent. Ahli Bank, Al Anwar Investment, Bank Dhofar and Oman United Insurance were up 1.80 per cent, 1.05 per cent, 0.81 per cent and 0.57 per cent respectively. Sohar International Bank, United Finance, Bank Muscat and HSBC Bank Oman were down 2.73 per cent, 1.92 per cent, 1.20 per cent and 1.08 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,021.14 points, down 0.47 per cent. Oman Fisheries, Al Anwar Ceramics, Galfar Engineering and Oman Cement were down 4.55 per cent, 2.01 per cent, 1.35 per cent and 1.26 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.12 per cent before closing at 1,597.42 points. Dhofar Generating, Al Jazeera Services and Al Batinah Power were up 8.57 per cent, 3.66 per cent and 2.08 per cent respectively. Renaissance Services, Omantel and OIFC were down 2.27 per cent, 1.12 per cent and 0.71 per cent respectively.
