MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,011.94 points, up 0.78 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.52 per cent at 531.95 points.

Al Sharqia Investment, was the top gainer, up by 4.65 per cent while, Construction Materials down 5.41 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Sohar International Bank were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded while Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of turnover.

A total number of 341 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.17 million, with more than 5.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 36 traded securities, 18 advanced, 7 declined and 11 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR158,000 while domestic investors were net sellers for OMR88,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR70,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,425.77 points, up 0.70 per cent. Al Sharqia Investment, Bank Nizwa, Al Anwar Investment, Sohar International Bank and Global Investment Holding were up 4.65 per cent, 2.13 per cent, 2.08 per cent, 1.87 per cent and 1.67 per cent respectively. Muscat Finance and Madina Takaful were down 1.75 per cent and 1.04 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,064.43 points, up 0.43 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramics, Al Maha Ceramics, Oman Cement and Jazeera Steel Product were up 2.05 per cent, 2.00 per cent, 0.85 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively. Construction Material, Assafa Foods and Galfar Engineering were down 5.41 per cent, 1.95 per cent and 1.33 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.06 per cent before closing at 1,591.10 points. Al Suwadi Power, Al Jazeera Services, OIFC, Renaissance Services and Ooredoo were up 2.04 per cent, 1.88 per cent, 1.45 per cent, 1.36 per cent and 1.19 per cent respectively. Sembcorp Salalah and Phoenix Power were down 5.13 per cent and 2.04 per cent respectively.
