MSX index ends marginally higher

MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,002.62 points, up 0.19 per cent from previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.41 per cent at 533.11 points.

Jazeera Steel Product, was the top gainer 2.29 per cent while, Al Suwadi Power down 5.77 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Muscat were the most active in terms of number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 290 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating turnover of OMR1.6 million, with more than 4.83 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, 8 advanced, 8 declined and 22 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR256,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net buyers for OMR212,000 followed by domestic investors for OMR43,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,401.04 points, up 0.38 per cent. Ahli Bank, Sohar International Bank and Bank Muscat were up 1.82 per cent, 0.94 per cent and 0.83 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,029.72 points, up 0.29 per cent. Jazeera Steel Product, Raysut Cement and Al Maha Ceramics were up 2.29 per cent, 0.42 per cent and 0.41 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.46 per cent before closing at 1,598.51 points. Muscat Desalinate and OIFC were up 1.04 per cent and 0.73 per cent respectively. Al Suwadi Power, Oman Education & Training, Renaissance Services, Majan College and Muscat Gases were down 5.77 per cent, 3.78 per cent, 1.86 per cent, 0.63 per cent and 0.61 per cent respectively.
