‘Jebal-Khuf’ project to be inaugurated on Monday

Muscat: Under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Petroleum Development Oman will celebrate on Monday the inauguration of the "Jebal-Khuf" project, the second largest project in the company's history.

The Jibal-Khuf project, which is about 50 km from the Fahud field, is considered one of the strategic projects that contribute to meeting the growing demand for oil and gas in the Sultanate of Oman in the medium and long term, and reducing PDO's net imports of non-associated gas.

Engineer Munir bin Khamis Al Hammadi, director of the "Jebal-Khuf" project, explained that the project, which costs 2.6 billion US dollars, is classified as a giant project and includes the construction of an oil and gas production plant, the drilling of 33 oil and gas production wells, and the establishment of a station to generate 45 megawatts of electricity.

In a previous statement to Oman News Agency, he said that the "Jebal-Khuf" project will produce 5 million cubic metres of gas per day and about 20,000 barrels per day of crude oil.
