Muscat: A Socotra cormorant has been rescued by the Environment Authority. The bird had a fishing line wrapped around its neck.
The Environment Authority said in a statement that the Socotra cormorant was rescued by wildlife monitors in the Daymaniyat Islands Nature Reserve, and a fishing line wrapped around its neck was removed. The bird was released after verifying its health condition.
"We call on everyone not to throw harmful waste which may cause the death of living organisms, and to ensure their safety in natural habitats," the Authority added.
