Muscat: The State Audit Institution (SAI) has submitted its annual report to His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik. The report outlines the outcome of the SAI tasks and activities.
Sheikh Nasser Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of SAI also sent copies of the report to the Council of Ministers, the State Council and the Shura Council in implementation of Article (66) of the Basic Law of the State and Article (29) of the State’s Financial and Administrative Audit Law, promulgated under Royal Decree No. 111/2011, which stipulates that SAI shall issue an annual report of its tasks and submit it directly to His Majesty the Sultan, besides sending copies of the same to the Council of Ministers, the State Council and the Shura Council before the end of the subsequent year.
The annual report covered a number of observations and findings of SAI as part of its enforcement of auditing procedures in units of the State’s Administrative Apparatus, public companies and public authorities that come under the monitoring authority of SAI whose units are widespread in the Sultanate of Oman’s governorates. As many as 156 inspection cases were carried out by SAI.
Moreover, despite the extraordinary circumstances in 2020 of low oil prices and the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic which affected most financial, economic and service sectors, SAI still managed to utilise its human resources in implementing its annual plan and achieving desired outcomes. This contributes to realising Oman Vision 2040 and boosting the march of the comprehensive and renewed development under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik.
