MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,106.62 points, up 1.37 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.65 per cent at 546.67 points.

Oman United Insurance was the top gainer, up by 7.10 per cent, while Majan Glass, down 9.50 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of OIFC were the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 1,058 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4.0 million, with more than 28 million shares changing hands. Out of 50 traded securities, 22 advanced, 8 declined and 20 remained unchanged. At the session close, Domestic investors were net buyers for OMR154,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR131,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR23,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,521.56 points, up 1.56 per cent. Oman United Insurance, Sohar International Bank, Bank Nizwa, Muscat Finance and Global Investment Holding were up 7.10 per cent, 5.66 per cent, 4.17 per cent, 3.64 per cent and 3.23 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investment and Oman Arab Bank were down 5.00 per cent and 3.01 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,089.37 points, up 0.08 per cent. National Aluminum Product and Galfar Engineering were up 5.26 per cent and 2.70 per cent respectively. Majan Glass and Raysut Cement were down 9.50 per cent and 1.64 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.23 per cent before closing at 1,627.83 points. Phoenix Power, OIFC, Al Jazeera Services and Oman National Engineering were up 2.08 per cent, 1.43 per cent, 1.23 per cent and 1.09 per cent respectively. SMN Power Holding, Al Suwadi Power and Renaissance Services were down 8.00 per cent, 1.92 per cent and 0.45 per cent respectively.
