Welcome and wanted in Oman, expats from different countries and backgrounds share their happiness on the National Day.

Muscat: Residents of the Sultanate of Oman expressed their happiness in being part of the joy of the glorious 51st National Day.

“I have never felt like a stranger in the Sultanate of Oman - rather, I feel as if I am one of the sons of this country. Everyone treats me as one of them with respect, love and pleasure.  Oman is a safe and secure country, and its people are very kind,” Saleem, a resident from People’s Republic of Bangladesh said.

Saleem, who has been working for more than 20 years in the Sultanate of Oman, spoke about his feelings on the occasion of the 51st National Day, “I participated in the Omani celebrations on the occasion of the 51st National Day by distributing Halwa, an Omani sweet, to all my customers and those I know. I am very happy to be in the Sultanate of Oman. I came here when I was 23 years old and today I am 48 years old. I worked as a barber in the wilayat of Saham in North Al Batinah Governorate and everyone here treats me as if I were one of their families.”

“I came to the Sultanate of Oman and did not know much about it. During my first days, I began to notice the extent of the kindness, morals and generosity of the Omani people. They laughed with me and invited me to their home to eat. They even brought me gifts on national and religious occasions,” he recalls.

“I shared with the Omani people their joy on the 51st National Day, and I feel that Oman is my country. I really listened to watching car marches, raising flags and chanting, and watched the military parade that was held under the patronage of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik- may God protect him.”

Umm Mohammed, from the Republic of Sudan, also spoke of her overwhelming happiness on the occasion of the 51st National Day, “I came to the Sultanate of Oman about 15 years ago to work in one of the private institutions, and when I deal with Omani employees, as well as those who live next to my flat or in my daily dealings, I noticed the extent of humility and kindness of the Omani people till I felt as if I had lived here since I was young. Oman is a wonderful country with beautiful landscapes, generous people and wise leadership during the rule of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said, and after him the rule of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik.”

“I am really happy to be in the Sultanate of Oman and celebrate with my Omani brothers and sisters on the occasion of the 51st National Day. I feel as if I am celebrating the national holidays of my country. I participated in offering cakes and sweets to my colleagues at work and the area in which I live. Oman is a very wonderful country,” she affirmed.

Husnain from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan said, “I participated in the celebrations of the 51st National Day through car marches. I was really happy with my participation. I went out with a group of my Omani friends as we raised the flag of the Sultanate and chanted patriotic slogans with joy on this occasion.”

“I came to the Sultanate of Oman at the age of 25 and I am now 43. I lived here for all these years with love and respect from Omanis until I felt that there was no difference between us at all. I felt that they are really my family. They are very kind, respect me and invite me on their occasions and joys. As I share their sorrows and sympathy with them, the Omanis are a very good people and I do not praise them but tell the truth about them. Thank you for your hospitality during all these years.”
