Muscat: Speaking to Times TV for the Unsung Heroes series on the 51st National Day, Bindhu Varghese, Group Nursing Head at NMC Healthcare Oman, recounted her team’s journey so far during the pandemic.

“As nursing head, my job is to make decisions and implement guidelines that protected my team and the patients and their relatives from health risks. It was a tough time for all of us and left us with mixed feelings,” she said.

“All our nurses would be exhausted but would still take all precautions, check their PPE kits and other measures, to ensure that at the end of the day, they did not take the virus home to their loved ones.”

“Though I didn’t work directly with patients, I had to ensure that my team had the facilities and whatever was required to provide quality care. Many patients would be alone and without relatives and we were their sole point of human contact,” she said.

To end with, Bindhu wished everyone a happy national day and said, “There were many new things that we learnt as a team. We also know now that we are the best.”
