Muscat: The Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) was briefed on the efforts made by the authority in the markets of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate during his visit.
"His Excellency Sulayem bin Ali Al Hikmani, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority, visited the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah, as part of a series of visits made by his Excellency to the markets, directorates and departments of consumer protection in the governorates with the aim of reviewing the progress of work and coordinating with the concerned authorities in the governorates to enhance cooperation among them and to ensure the extent of commitment to consumer protection legislation," CPA said in a statement.
His Excellency, the Chairman of the Authority met with His Excellency Dr. Yahya bin Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah. During the meeting, some issues of concern to the consumer in the governorate and aspects of joint cooperation in the field of monitoring and awareness were discussed.
His Excellency later toured some commercial and service establishments in the Wilayat of Sur, with the aim of ensuring the availability of basic commodities in the markets, the stability of their prices, and the extent of suppliers' commitment to the provisions of the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations.
Thereafter, His Excellency visited the new headquarters of the Consumer Protection Department in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, where he viewed the building’s annexes, met with the department’s staff and urged them to exert more effort in the field of immediate handling of consumer complaints, and intensify monitoring and awareness efforts
The Chairman also viewed a visual presentation that reviewed the statistics, indicators and efforts of the administration in the field of oversight work during the last period and samples of the awareness initiatives implemented by the administration during the current period, where he commended those efforts made, urging them to continue with them.
