MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,030.57 points, up 0.74 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.34 per cent at 546.69 points.

Ooredoo Oman was the top gainer, up by 3.37 per cent, while Al Anwar Investment, down 3.96 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of OIFC was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 379 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.88 million, with more than 10.83 million shares changing hands. Out of 38 traded securities, 11 advanced, 8 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR120,000 while local investors were net buyers for OMR113,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR 7,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,375.79 points, up 0.46 per cent. Ahli Bank, Bank Muscat, Bank Dhofar, and Sohar International Bank were up by 1.85 per cent, 1.66 per cent, 1.56 per cent, and 0.96 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Investment, Al Omaniya Financial Services, Global Investment Holding, Taageer Finance, and Al Sharqiya Investments were down 3.96 per cent, 3.39 per cent, 1.59 per cent, 1.35 per cent and 1.12 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,177.56 points, up 0.08 per cent. Raysut Cement and National Aluminium Products were up by 0.84 per cent and 0.68 per cent respectively.

Services Index was up by 0.52 per cent before closing at 1,634.61 points. Ooredoo Oman, Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, Dhofar Engineering, and Omantel were up by 3.37 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1.33 per cent, and 0.54 per cent respectively. Oman National Engineering and National Gas were down by 2.08 per cent and 0.75 per cent respectively.
