Hope another lockdown in Oman doesn’t become necessary: Health Minister
The Ministry of Health

MuscatHis Excellency Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Saidi, the Minister of Health on Monday said that he hopes that another lockdown, ban or closure does not become necessary in the Sultanate of Oman.

He was speaking at a press conference by the Supreme Committee to oversee the effects of the pandemic, he said :“We receive news of people hugging or shaking hands at funerals or other occasions. We hope that we will not have to close down or impose another ban again."

The Committee urged everyone to continue to adhere to precautionary measures and to take the third dose of Covid-19 vaccine if it has been six months since the previous dose.

In particular, cancer patients, those who have undergone an organ transplant, have AIDS and patients receiving immunosuppressive drugs have been urged to take the dose.

On demands to reduce social distancing measures in mosques to allow for closer rows, the Minister said that there were no staff in mosques to ensure that everyone who entered was vaccinated. “Imams in mosques should call on worshippers to maintain social distance and to take precautionary measures,” he added.
