be’ah, PDO and CONNECT announce the launch of Oman Sustainability Week Awards

be’ah, PDO and CONNECT have joined hands to launch the Oman Sustainability Week (OSW) Awards on the 13th of March 2022 at W Hotel, Muscat, hosted by Petroleum Development Oman under the patronage of Ministry of Energy & Minerals.

The initiative is organized in collaboration with the globally renowned Center of Sustainability and Excellence (CSE) and is aimed at promoting exemplary accomplishments by corporations to embed sustainability as an integral part of their business practices. This prestigious annual awards of national importance are aligned with the UN Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) in line with the sustainability initiatives identified in Oman Vision 2040. The key areas of focus are clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, industry innovation and infrastructure, climate action and life on land.

The main objective of the OSW Awards is to raise awareness on sustainability issues and to support companies and organisations in integrating responsible and sustainable practices into their corporate strategy. The long-term goal is to recognise an organisation’s impact in the areas of sustainability and to encourage their commitment towards sustainability targets.

The Awards forms part of the wider Oman Sustainability Week, a week-long event comprising an Exhibition, Conference, Thought Leadership Summit, and Site Visits. The Oman Sustainability Week, scheduled between 13 to 17 March 2022, is a national platform that aims to highlight the Sultanate’s commitment to sustainability leadership through innovative strategies aligned with the UN SDGs and to engage the national development stakeholders to present Oman as a model for sustainable development.

The Awards will provide a platform for the participating organisations to perform a situation analysis, mapping out their current sustainability status in comparison to industry peers and identifying medium and long term risks and opportunities. Some of the other benefits include in-depth evaluation by highly specialised sustainability assessors, introduction to self-assessment tools and assessment methodologies offered through a specially designed online platform. Participants will have the opportunity to provide category submissions in six main areas including Governance, Society, Environment, Employees, Transitional Energy and Education.

Submissions for the OSW Awards will open from 15th November 2021 to 1st January 2022. To know more about sending entries and the evaluation process, visit www.omansustainabilityweek.com/oman-sustainability-week-awards
