MSX index ends marginally lower

MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,050.07 points, down 0.08 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.07 per cent at 552.21 points.

Dhofar Generating was the top gainer, up by 8.57 per cent. While Takaful Oman, down 6.25 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of OIFC was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 462 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR1.6 million, with more than 9.9 million shares changing hands. Out of 39 traded securities, 9 advanced, 12 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR61,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR52,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR9,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,401 points, up 0.12 per cent. Prices of Bank Muscat, Vision Insurance, Sohar International Bank and Ominvest were up 1.25 per cent, 1.25 per cent, 0.97 per cent and 0.65 per cent respectively. Takaful Oman, Global Investment Holding, Bank Dhofar and Al Anwar Investment were down 6.25 per cent, 1.56 per cent, 1.54 per cent and 1.01 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,160.72 points, up 0.03 per cent. Prices of Oman Cables Industry and Al Maha Ceramics were up 4.26 per cent and 0.77 per cent respectively. NAPI, Voltamp Energy, Jazeera Steel Product, Galfar Engineering and Al Anwar Ceramics were down 2.01 per cent, 1.61 per cent, 1.58 per cent, 1.28 per cent and 0.92 per cent respectively.

Services Index up by 0.26 per cent before closing at 1,654.31 points. Dhofar Generating, OIFC and Al Jazeera Services were up 8.57 per cent, 2.92 per cent and 2.27 per cent respectively. Omantel, Al Maha Marketing and Ooredoo were down 1.60 per cent, 1.15 per cent and 1.07 per cent respectively.
