Automobile fuel production rises by 13% till end of September 2021

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman’s refineries recorded an increase in the production of automobile fuel until the end of September 2021 by 13 per cent, compared to the corresponding period of 2020, according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Of the total production, sales of petrol (M-95) stood at 9,510,900 barrels, an increase by 16 per cent, while its exports stood at 1,422,200 barrels, comprising a rise by 10 per cent, compared to the corresponding period in 2020.

The production of standard grade petrol (M-91) by Omani refineries stood at 9,933,000 barrels comprising a rise by 41 per cent till the end of September 2021, compared to the corresponding period in 2020.

Domestic sales of petrol (M-91) stood at 6,379,500 barrels comprising a 10 per cent increase, while its exports reached 3,850,300 barrels, a rise by 41 per cent, compared to the corresponding period in 2020.

Gas oil (diesel) output increased by 8 per cent to 27,288,500 barrels. Domestic sales of diesel stood at 9,953,900 barrels, a drop by 1 per cent, and its exports reached 17,382,200 barrels, an increase by 13 per cent, compared to the corresponding period in 2020.

Jet fuel production fell by 26 per cent to 4,354,300 barrels at the end of September 2021, compared to the corresponding period of 2020. Its domestic sales also declined by 23 per cent to 1,077,200 barrels. Exports of aviation fuel dropped by 29 per cent to 3,291,500 barrels.

Production of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) increased by 22 per cent to 5,546,900 barrels until the end of September 2021.
Its domestic sales also increased by 168 per cent to 5,525,800 barrels. Of the total production, exports of LPG reached 392,200 barrels, a decline by 86 per cent.

As far as petrochemicals are concerned, benzene production increased by 18 per cent, compared to September 2020 to reach 165,400 metric tonnes, while its exports stood at 165,900 metric tonnes.

Output of paraxylene stood at 432,400 metric tonnes, where its exports reached 440,200 metric tonnes.

Production of polypropylene stood at 168,100 metric tonnes, comprising a rise by 1 per cent, as its domestic sales also increased by 18 per cent to stand at 31,700 metric tonnes. Its exports reached 121,100 metric tonnes, a decline by 2 per cent.
