Muscat: 3,000 plants were distributed in the wilayats of Saham, Suwaiq and Khaboura which were affected by cyclone Shaheen. The initiative will be under the slogan “Together to Make Al Batinah Green”.
Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources said: "Yesterday, the Ministry implemented a voluntary initiative aimed at distributing seedlings to citizens and planting the largest number of seedlings of different trees (ornamental or fruit plants) for home gardens affected by cyclone Shaheen to restore the landscape."
More than 3,000 seedlings of fruit trees, ornamental trees and shade trees were distributed. The campaign was organised with the support of voluntary civil teams, sports teams and Omani Women's Associations in Seeb and Saham, with the participation of 350 volunteers of all ages.
"This campaign was organised by the Fellowship Fund for Ministry employees, directorates affiliated with the Ministry, owners of nurseries, agricultural associations, Food Safety and Quality Centre, Muscat Municipality, Oman Sidr Society, Oman Transport and Omran Company," the ministry added.
It is worth noting that the initiative will continue until the end of 2021 to cover the largest number of damaged home gardens, especially after the support of the Supreme directives for this initiative through the contribution of the Royal Court Affairs Gardens with 3,000 ornamental seedlings to be added to this campaign.
