Muscat: Oman plans to hold international-level conferences and meetings, with the aim of bolstering economic activity in the Sultanate.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is encouraging the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE) industry and has urged public and private sector agencies to organise seminars in the Sultanate. These conferences and exhibitions provide an ideal opportunity for sharing information and marketing the tourism potential of the Sultanate. They also contribute to enhancing the occupancy rates at the hotels and MICE facilities.
Awadh bin Said Al Alawi, director of Commercial Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said the Sultanate attaches great importance to the development of the MICE industry as it plays a remarkable role in the growth of the national economy.
He affirmed that the laws and regulations in force in the Sultanate provide freedom in doing business, including the MICE industry. The Sultanate has also established an Oman office for conferences at the Ministry of Tourism to facilitate the organisation of international conferences in the Sultanate.
