Muscat: The number of commercial records in all legal forms registered at the Commercial Registry Secretariat at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion during the second quarter of 2021 stood at 3,926, a surge of 111 per cent compared to 1,860 records registered during the same period in 2020.
The ministry indicated that the rise in commercial records registered according to legal forms in the second quarter of 2021 is due to several reasons, including the tendency to use self-e-services and using the advantages of the e-government services.
The Department of Information, Data and Statistics at the Ministry stated that the commercial records registered in the second quarter of 2021 stood at 1,877 records as an individual merchant, compared to 981 records in the second quarter of 2020, and 694 records for limited liability companies in the second quarter of 2021, compared to 362 records during the same period of 2020.
As many as 633 records were registered for one-person companies in the second quarter of 2021, compared to 242 records in the same period last year, and 379 records for home business companies compared to 99 records in the second quarter of 2020.
Also, 168 records for the non-profit organisation were registered during the second quarter of 2021, compared to 96 records in the same period of 2020.
As many as 68 records were registered as street vendor companies during the second quarter of 2021, compared to 23 records in the same period of 2020, and 68 records for joint liability companies were registered during the second quarter of 2021, compared to 44 records in the same period in 2020.
As many as 32 records of limited partnership companies were registered, compared to 12 records registered in the second quarter of 2020, and 3 branches of international companies were registered during the second quarter of 2021 compared to 1 during the same period 2020, and 3 records for government companies during the second quarter of 2021, and 1 for a commercial representation office.
