Muscat: The MSX index closed at 4,059.26 points, down 0.39 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended up by 0.39 per cent at 556.10 points. Takaful Oman was the top gainer, up by 5.56 per cent. While Dhofar Generating, down 9.41 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of OIFC was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.
A total number of 481 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR4.7 million, with more than 11.4 million shares changing hands. Out of 45 traded securities, 16 advanced, 12 declined and 17 remained unchanged. At the session close, foreign investors were net sellers for OMR263,000 while local investors were net buyers for OMR157,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR106,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index closed at 6,390 points, down 0.19 per cent. Prices of Takaful Oman, Oman United Insurance, Madina Takaful, United Finance and Global Investment Holding were up 5.56 per cent, 3.13 per cent, 2.11 per cent, 1.75 per cent and 1.56 per cent respectively. Bank Muscat, Al Anwar Investment, Sohar International Bank, Ahli Bank and Ominvest were down 1.63 per cent, 0.99 per cent, 0.97 per cent, 0.90 per cent and 0.65 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,193.42 points, up 0.29 per cent. Prices of Oman Chlorine, Al Anwar Ceramics, NAPI, Jazeera Steel Product and Voltamp Energy were up 5.26 per cent, 2.38 per cent, 2.34 per cent, 1.03 per cent and 0.81 per cent respectively. Galfar Engineering, Oman Flour Mills and Raysut Cement were down 1.27 per cent, 0.50 per cent and 0.41 per cent respectively.
Services Index down by 0.41 per cent before closing at 1,668.04 points. Phoenix Power and Renaissance Services were up 2.08 per cent and 0.44 per cent respectively. Dhofar Generating, Omantel and Ooredoo were down 9.41 per cent, 2.62 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively.
