Sayyid Fahd receives Syrian Health Minister

Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, on Sunday received Dr. Hassan Al Ghabbash, Health Minister of the Syrian Arab Republic, who is currently visiting the Sultanate.

HH Sayyid Fahd welcomed Al Ghabbash, who conveyed the greetings of President Bashar Al Assad of Syrian Arab Republic to His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik.

The meeting touched on bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Syria. HH Sayyid Fahd expressed his best wishes to the Syrian leadership and wished the Syrian people further progress and prosperity.

Al Ghabbash spoke about current developments in the regional arena and efforts to handle them in a manner that realizes the interests of all.

The meeting dealt with Oman-Syria relations and means of consolidating bilateral cooperation, notably in areas of healthcare and curative services. It discussed ways of imparting the Omani experience in combating coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic at the level of the public health service system.

The two sides also discussed current regional and international developments.

Al Ghabbash expressed the Syrian Arab Republic’s appreciation for Oman's stands that he described as supportive of all brethren.

Al Ghabbash commended Omani government’s efforts to provide proper healthcare for citizens and residents. He hailed the advanced level of curative services in the Sultanate.

Al Ghabbash also commended the talks he held with his Omani counterpart, saying that the positive outcome of the talks will help promote cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al Sa'eedi, Minister of Health, and Dr. Bassam Al Khatib, Syrian Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.
