40% surge in guests at top-end hotels in Oman
Omani visitors constituted the largest proportion of the total occupants until the end of September.

Muscat: The total number of guests in three to five-star hotels in the Sultanate of Oman amounted to 934,255 by end of September compared to 604,940 guests during the same period in 2020, an increase of 37.9 per cent, according to statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The statistics of the National Centre for Statistics and Information indicated that the revenue of hotels stood at over OMR59.9 million by end of September, a decrease of 11.7  per cent compared to the same period in 2020, where the revenue amounted to over OMR67.1 million.

The hotel room occupancy increased to 35 per cent compared to 27.3 per cent during the same period in 2020, an increase of 28.2 per cent.

The percentage of Omani hotel guests increased by 115.8 per cent to 619,194 by end of September 2021 compared to 286,867 guests during the same period in  2020, followed by Asian guests 98,752 compared to 55,004 guests during the same period in 2020, an increase of 79.5 per cent and guests of Arab countries other than GCC states amounted to 32,151, respectively.

European guests amounted to 29,732, guests of North and South America stood at 13,259, guests from the GCC States amounted to 13,452, from Oceania amounted to 3,916, from African countries amounted to 2,868 and other countries’ guests amounted to 20,933 by end of September 2021.
