Muscat: The Omani Water and Wastewater Services Company, Diam, has published a clarification regarding a video clip circulating on social media, about the quality of drinking water at the Khasab desalination plant, and confirms that the water quality adheres to the Omani standard specifications for drinking water.

The company stated:

1. The trial operation of the desalination plant in the Wilayat of Khasab began at the beginning of October, with a production capacity of 10,000 cubic meters per day.

2. The station was established to ensure water security in the Wilayat of Khasab and to keep pace with the demand for water and according to the master plan to expand the networks.

3. The water produced from the desalination plant is subject to daily checks, as the water produced conforms to the Omani standard specifications for drinking water.

4. The state of Khasab has relied on groundwater as a source of drinking water for more than four decades, and the desalination plant will support water sources in the state, thus enhancing the sustainability of water sources.

5. The observations contained in the video clip were taken about the water quality, and the specialised technical team took samples of the water produced from the station, the main tank and networks, and made the necessary tests, and the results of the water were in accordance with the Omani standard specifications for drinking water.

The company confirmed its continuous follow-up to the operation of the desalination plant and took daily samples of the produced water to ensure the safety of the water and its compliance with the Omani standard specifications for drinking water.
