Cyclone Shaheen: Teams formed to inventory damage to homes

Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning has formed teams to inventory the properties and homes affected by cyclone Shaheen in the governorates of North and South Al Batinah.

Engineer Hamad bin Ali Al-Nazwani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, explained in a statement to the Oman News Agency and Oman TV that the ministry has formed teams to inventory the properties and homes that are completely and partially affected and pose a threat to their inhabitants in the governorates of North and South Al Batinah.

He stressed that the ministry is working to find appropriate solutions, whether by choosing specific areas far from the valleys or alternatives in areas not affected by the recent tropical situation, and the studies will be submitted to the committee in charge to take appropriate decisions.

"The situation of about 18 thousand families has been examined until yesterday in the areas affected by the tropical situation Shaheen. In 500-600 cases, help in terms of food, temporary accommodation and financial assistance is being provided daily," said Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Shehhi, Director General of North and South Al Batinah Governorates at the Ministry of Social Development.
