ICC T20 World Cup tickets sale picks up online as history beckons Oman

Muscat: Everyone wants to be a part of history being made. As Oman stands on the threshold of a historic page of its Cricketing history with the Sultanate playing venue-host to the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup starting from October 17, the Cricket fever has gripped the country and online tickets sale for the Group B matches in Oman have picked up.

Oman Cricket has built the infrastructure to welcome about 4,000 fans for the Group B double-headers of the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup to be held at Al Amerat Cricket Stadium on October 17, 19 and 21. The inaugural match will be played on October 17 between hosts Oman and Papua New Guinea at 2pm, followed by Bangladesh and Scotland on the same day at 6pm.

Tickets can only be booked online on https://www.t20worldcup.com/tickets and priced at 10 OMR [Omani Rials] for a day, covering both the matches. Additionally, special VIP tickets including food, beverages & other refreshment available at 30 OMR [Omani Rials] have also been rolled out for booking. There will be no ticket sales at the venue. Children under three years of age can enter free. Fans can have their tickets printed or show the tickets on the phone or mobile device at the entry gates.

Meanwhile, Oman Cricket has also requested the fans in the country to adhere to the stipulated COVID-19 protocols, health advisories and regulations on all match days at the stadium to ensure everyone’s safety. Safety guidelines are updated in real time on www.t20worldcup.com/tickets as per the latest government mandates.

Fans will have to display the green status on AlTarassud+ or AlHosn Apps, as applicable, or furnish the approved vaccination certification to gain entry. Stipulated social distancing guidelines have been put in place within the stadium and fans are requested to wear the face masks at all times and also refrain from using blocked seats.

In his comments, Pankaj Khimji, Chairman of Oman Cricket, said: “We are on the verge of creating history, and what better than watching Oman battling it out with top teams in the Group B stage of the T20 World Cup, right here in home conditions. While we understand the excitement and encourage our fans in Oman to come and support the teams in large numbers, we request them to adhere to the stipulated COVID protocols and guidelines to avoid last-minute disappointments. Oman to come, enjoy and savour this historic moment for years to come.”

Oman Cricket also reinforced that each ticket can only be utilised once. Once scanned, the same ticket cannot be used for entry or re-entry. If a spectator leaves the venue, they will not be allowed back in using the same ticket.

Fans will not be allowed to carry any outside food or refreshments into the stadium and ample food and beverage kiosks have been set up for the fans. Items which have the potential to cause injury, nuisance, or inconvenience to any other person will also not be permitted into the stadium.
