Muscat: In line with the programmes and initiatives launched by the Talent Support and Empowerment Team, The Zubair Corporation recently launched a training programme for university students. The programme targeted 30 male and female students in their last year from Muscat University. The students will be distributed across 6 different companies within the group, with the aim to prepare them in line with the requirements of the labour market. This is made possible by integrating them into the work environment based on their academic majors and professional aspirations. The training period will last for seven months within the companies affiliated with The Zubair Corporation.

Commenting on the programme, Hilal Omar Al Siyabi, Chief Corporate Services Officer at The Zubair Corporation, said, “Within the framework of our social responsibility, the Corporation always seeks to enhance the quality of young national competencies to enable them to enter the labour market, well-prepared and with confidence. 30 male and female students from Muscat University have been selected to join this programme aimed at training students who are about to graduate soon and qualify them to play an integral role in the labour market upon graduation. This promising programme seeks to bridge the gap between academic education and actual practice through a transitional period that will take place for seven and a half months. During this time, students will acquire practical skills and knowledge that will assist them in their career path in any institution or company in the future.”

“I would like to extend my thanks to Muscat University for this effective cooperation with the Corporation in conducting the launch of this training programme, as well as their cooperation in selecting distinguished students who seek continuous development and learning. I hope that the programme will see immense potential and enable students to take their first steps in their promising careers,” he added.

An induction programme at Bait Al Zubair was organised for the participating students, in the presence of the directors of human resources at The Zubair Corporation and its subsidiaries, alongside a number of officials from The Corporation and Muscat University. The induction programme included presentations about the companies that will host the students according to the schedule prepared for each group. The event also included a presentation of a new e- application designed to target final year students in universities and colleges in the Sultanate in order to determine their future careers according to their interests and future desires.

Abeer Salim Al Shamsi, Student Training Officer from Muscat University, said, “I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to The Zubair Corporation for this pioneering initiative that will enable our students to obtain practical training that complements their study programme. This will provide students with practical experience in addition to refining their various skills, and applying the knowledge they obtained during their studies at Muscat University. We are confident that the graduates of this programme will form an added value to any institution that they will work at in the future.”

This programme is one of the programmes and initiatives approved by the Talent Support and Empowerment Team, which was recently established under the direct supervision of Al Zubair Mohammad Al Zubair, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Zubair Corporation. The Corporation’s keen interest in this programme is aimed at developing it to be a major and effective stage in preparing students for the labour market in an effective way, through organized guidance for the students and systematic coordination with the academic staff specialised in career guidance at the university.
