MSX index ends marginally lower

MSX index ends marginally lower

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,957.86 points, down 0.28 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.56 per cent at 577.67 points.

Galfar Engineering was the top gainer, up by 7.50 per cent. While Dhofar Generating, down 9.32 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 753 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.6 million, with more than 17 million shares changing hands. Out of 45 traded securities, 10 advanced, 14 declined and 21 remained unchanged. At the session close, Local investors were net buyers for OMR103,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR102,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR1,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,254 points, up 0.02 per cent. Prices of Vision Insurance, Oman United Insurance, Sohar International and National Bank Oman were up 5.19 per cent, 2.29 per cent, 2.22 per cent and 1.05 per cent respectively. Bank Nizwa, Bank Muscat, Oman & Qatar Insurance and Al Anwar Investment were down 2.08 per cent, 1.71 per cent, 1.11 per cent and 0.88 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index closed at 6,273.71 points, down 0.89 per cent. The price of Galfar Engineering was the only gainer by 7.50 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramics, NAPI, Jazeera Steel Product and Al Maha Ceramics were down 6.69 per cent, 5.00 per cent, 4.26 per cent and 1.85 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.08 per cent before closing at 1,680.45 points. Sohar Power, Renaissance Services, OIFC, Oman National Engineering and Al Batinah Power were up 6.82 per cent, 2.63 per cent, 2.17 per cent, 2.04 per cent and 2.00 per cent respectively. Dhofar Generating, Al Jazeera Services, National Gas, Omantel and Ooredoo were down 9.32 per cent, 1.05 per cent, 0.71 per cent, 0.54 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively.
