Muscat: The Ministry of Health has released a report on the health projects planned for the year 2021.
"Within the framework of the efforts made by the rational government to expand the umbrella of health services, and to keep pace with the population growth rates in the country, and what is required for the expansion of services; The Ministry of Health is currently implementing a number of health projects in the various governorates of the Sultanate, with a construction cost exceeding OMR 275 million," a statement accompanying the report said.
The projects, which are still in the construction phase, are the new Sultan Qaboos Hospital project in the Wilayat of Salalah in the Governorate of Dhofar, the Suwaiq Hospital project in the North Al Batinah Governorate, the two projects of Khasab Hospital and raising the capacity of the Medha Health Center to a local hospital in the Wilayat of Madha in the Musandam Governorate, and expansion projects in The Royal Hospitals, Nizwa and Sohar, and a project to establish a kidney unit in Bahla Hospital in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, as well as a project for the accident and emergency units and the dialysis unit at Yanqul Hospital.
Projects currently underway include the Muqshin Health Center, the rehabilitation of Thumrait Health Center into a local hospital funded by the Petroleum Development Oman, and the dialysis unit at Al Amerat Health Center, which is financed by the private sector.
The new Sultan Qaboos Hospital project in the Wilayat of Salalah which is being built on a land area of more than 200,000 square meters is at the top of these projects in terms of priority. It consists of seven floors, with a capacity of more than 700 beds, it includes: 16 registration departments for all specialties, an integrated department for radiology in its various departments, an accident and emergency department for children, and an integrated center for day clinics. In addition to that, the hospital includes units of the Accident and Emergency Department for adults, chemotherapy, nephrology, burns and orthodontics, intensive care for adults, children and premature babies, stroke intermediate care, rehabilitation, admission wards for adults and children, childbirth and operations, a central pharmacy, a unit and a multidisciplinary laboratory, hall for seminars and conferences, hospital administration offices, an area for entertainment services for visitors, in addition to other ancillary services.
While the three floored Suwaiq Hospital project is being built on a land area of more than 200,000 square meters, with a capacity of approximately 250 beds; Khasab Hospital will be built on a land area of 100,000 square meters, with a capacity of approximately 150 beds.
The components of both hospitals include: outpatient clinics, nephrology units, day care, intensive care for adults, children, premature babies, burns, orthodontics, and care focused on the heart. And departments of internal surgery, obstetrics and children, maternity and hospitalization suites for adults and children, and operating rooms, in addition to other accompanying services.
"The project to raise the capacity of the Madha Health Center to a local hospital, it is being built on an area of more than 25,000 square meters, and it includes: departments of outpatient clinics, accidents and emergencies, pharmacy, operations, radiology, laboratories, daily day care and central steriliz5sation."
The project also includes hospitalization suites for men, women and children, cardiac units, dialysis, intensive care for adults, children, premature babies and childbirth, in addition to treatment and counseling rooms and other accompanying services.
The Royal Hospital project includes the expansion of the care units for children and premature babies, the expansion of the radiology department, and the addition of operating rooms. As for Nizwa Hospital; The project is the expansion of the care for premature babies, the expansion of the maternal section, the expansion of the adult care unit, the addition of operating rooms, the addition of a maternity ward, the addition of a surgical suite, the expansion of the pediatric cardiac care unit, the expansion of the adult cardiac care unit, expansion accident and emergency ward, expansion of day clinics and dialysis, addition of radiology department and inpatient wards (birth + surgery), adding a catheter department with its own laboratory, an expansion administrative offices with accompanying services.
The Sohar Hospital project is to add the Burns and Orthodontic Unit, the Maternal Department, as well as the addition of operating rooms, dialysis, day clinics, pediatric and adult cardiac care unit, adult and pediatric intensive care units, cardiac surgery department, maternity ward, unit expansion accidents and emergencies, adding the radiology department, expanding the premature infant care unit, adding wards (delivery + surgery), adding a catheter department with its own laboratory.
As for the project to establish a kidney unit in Bahla Hospital; It includes: diagnostic room, hall, waiting for men and women, a pharmacy, a medical store, a room for dialysis water treatment equipment, two dialysis rooms, each containing 8 beds, a treatment room, two rooms for isolation, a small meeting room and other accompanying services.
The Yanqul hospital project includes the accident and emergency unit and two recovery halls, each with two beds, 3 treatment rooms, 3 observation rooms, a waiting room for men and another for women, a room for medical records, toilets for staff and patients, a room for the doctor on duty, a nursing office, a room for clean tools and another for dirty tools, and a room for staff and patients, cleaning and computer room. The unit also contains a water treatment unit, rooms for medical gases, and an electric generator.
As for the dialysis unit in Yanqul hospital; It includes six beds for dialysis with two isolation rooms, a waiting room for patients, a treatment and evaluation room, an office for nurses, restrooms for staff and patients, a room for the doctor on duty, a room for clean instruments and another for soiled instruments, a cleaning room, a storeroom, a workshop for dialysis equipment, an electricity room and a computer room.
The construction project of Muqshin Health Center in Dhofar Governorate, will be built on an area of 1682.33 square meters, which consists of eight clinics, a dental clinic, in addition to two examination rooms | And two halls for treatment and examination, as well as a laboratory, radiology room, and sterilization room, in addition to a meeting hall and a staff break room.
It also includes the building in which the accident and emergency unit can be expanded in the future; Two medical stores, a control room and its annexes, another for electricity, and another for engineering equipment, in addition to other public services that include toilets for employees and patients. A room has also been allocated for toiletries, another for dirty tools, and a small kitchen.
The project also contains a maternity ward containing four beds, a maternity hall, a delivery room, a waiting room for men and another for women, a room for dirty materials, in addition to other general services.
As for the project to rehabilitate the Thumrait Health Center; It will be built on a building area of more than 1,618 square meters and includes: an integrated suite for dialysis patients comprising 6 beds with one bed for isolation, a bed for examination and treatment, and all the attachments of the dialysis unit such as a water purification and treatment unit, a room for dirty tools and another for clean tools, a storeroom, and a workshop for the maintenance of washing equipment, and toilets.
The project also contains dormitory suites for men, women and children with separate toilets with an isolation room. The hypnosis suites contain: a main entrance, a nursing office, a storeroom, a room for clean tools, a room for dirty tools, a waiting area, toilets for employees and patients, and a toilet for people with special needs. private, and a place designated to change employees' clothes.
In addition to that, the project includes: a room for minor operations with all its annexes, a meeting room for employees, a kitchen and a cafeteria, a laundry room, a medical store, a room for hygiene tools, rooms for electricity and spare batteries, a building for medical gases, a building for a backup generator with all its accessories. The building was provided with a system Central air conditioning and central heaters.
