Volunteers strive to rebuild homes post Shaheen

Muscat: More than 1,700 homes in the areas affected by Cyclone Shaheen have been cleaned, and work continues for the second day in a row.

Sulaiman bin Hamad Al Sunaidi, Director General of the Municipality of North Al Batinah Governorate, said that the national campaign yesterday dealt with more than 1,700 homes, and is expected to end today.

The National Volunteer Campaign in the wilayats of Saham, Al Khaboura and Al Suwaiq in North Al Batinah Governorate continues its efforts to deal with the effects of the exceptional climatic conditions in various regions where the volunteer teams work in groups that are distributed between homes in the affected areas."

Al Sunaidi added: "Volunteer work is done through the distribution of schemes that have been divided into several sectors in the wilayats of Suwaiq, Saham and Khaboura under the management of supervisors."

Within the general plan of the Main Military Committee for Emergency Management, the Royal Army of Oman prepared large numbers of meals and distributed them to citizens and residents in the areas affected by the tropical situation Shaheen in the North Al Batinah Governorate.

Besides that, The Royal Armed forces, in accordance with the plan of the Military Subcommittee in North Al Batinah Governorate, reopened, built and paved a number of main and secondary roads to restore traffic and smooth the tasks and duties of the various national and community sectors.
