Muscat: As much as 99 per cent of electricity service in South Al Batinah has been restored while 87 per cent of electricity service has been restored in North Al Batinah after cyclone Shaheen ravaged the Sultanate. Efforts are on to repair the rest.
In a statement, the National Committee for the Management of Emergency Situations said that in the Governorate of South Al Batinah, electricity, water, telecommunications, fuel and roads services are 99 per cent restored, while waste management services are restored 90 per cent.
In North Al Batinah Governorate, electricity is 87 per cent restored and 99 per cent of water and fuel services are also restored. Communications are at 96 per cent, 57 per cent of dirt roads and 89 per cent of asphalt roads have been repaired, while waste management services are back by 40 per cent.
In this regard, Electricity Holding Company Nama said in a notification: "The electricity has been restored gradually in the affected area. If the main switch, plugs or other electrical appliances are directly affected by water, please disconnect the electricity from the main switch to avoid electrocution. Then contact the emergency team or a specialised or licensed technician to ensure the electricity connection is safe before using it for your safety."
