Oman saw over 200 rescue ops due to cyclone Shaheen

Muscat: The search and rescue sector has dealt with more than 300 reports since the beginning of the tropical cyclone Shaheen on Sunday, October 3, 2021, till 6pm on Tuesday, October 5, 2021.

CDAA deals with over 400 reports

The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority has dealt with more than 400 reports as a result of the effects of the tropical situation Shaheen in all the affected governorates.

“ The search and rescue, firefighting and ambulance teams of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority dealt with 410 reports as a result of the effects of the tropical situation Shaheen in the governorates of Muscat, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Dhahirah, and North Al Sharqiyah until this morning,” Oman News Agency  (ONA) said in a statement.


Police aviation performs over 150 rescue operations 

Muscat: More than 100 operations through services such as ambulance, evacuation, rescue and transportation have been carried out  by the police aviation since the direct effects of the tropical cyclone Shaheen ended on Monday October 4, 2021. 

A statement issued online by Royal Oman Police (ROP), said :"Since the end of the direct effects of the tropical situation Shaheen , the police aviation has carried out 178 operations that varied between ambulance, evacuation, rescue, transporting people, specialised technical teams and transporting supplies."

Earlier today:

"The total number of reports that were dealt with by the search and rescue sector since the beginning of the direct impact of tropical cyclone Shaheen and until 6pm on Tuesday reached 231. Of these 57 reports were of people stuck in a valley, there were 66 reports of stranded vehicle, 91 reports of people stuck in a house, two reports of falling trees, nine reports of search operations and six reports of collapse. About 654 people have been rescued so far," the National Centre for Emergency Management (NCEM) said in a statement.
