MSX index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSX index closed at 3,947.56 points, up 0.13 per cent from the previous close. The Sharia Index ended down by 0.2613 per cent at 578.24 points.

Bank Muscat was the top gainer, up by 3.1413 per cent. While Dhofar International Development, down 7.5613 per cent, was the top loser. Shares of Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of the number of shares traded as well as in terms of turnover.

A total number of 315 trades were executed during the day's trading session, generating a turnover of OMR2.8 million, with more than 9.6 million shares changing hands. Out of 31 traded securities, 5 advanced, 11 declined and 15 remained unchanged.

At the session close, local investors were net buyers for OMR423,000 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR254,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors for OMR169,000 worth of shares.

Financial Index closed at 6,247 points, up 0.1913 per cent. Prices of Bank Muscat and National Bank Oman were up 3.1413 per cent and 1.0813 per cent respectively. Sohar International was the only loser by 1.1113 per cent.

Industrial Index closed at 6,251.66 points, up 0.0213 per cent. Price of Al Maha Ceramics and Al Anwar Ceramics were up 2.2613 per cent and 1.2413 per cent respectively. NAPI, Raysut Cement and Jazeera Steel Product were down 2.7213 per cent, 2.3413 per cent and 1.1013 per cent respectively.

Services Index was down by 0.2713 per cent before closing at 1,692.69 points. Ooredoo and Al Suwadi Power were down 2.0513 per cent and 1.9613 per cent respectively.
