Muscat: A certificate of completion of any of the approved COVID-19 vaccines is a prerequisite for renewing expat resident cards and to enter work places from October 1, 2021.
Starting today, the Supreme Committee to deal with COVID-19 has made it mandatory to show the receipt of complete vaccination against COVID-19 to enter headquarters and workplaces for public and private sector employees, and the vaccines have to be approved by the Sultanate. The Committee also stipulated obtaining two doses of the vaccine as a condition to renew resident cards for expatriates.
Employees who have health conditions that prevent them from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine are excluded, but a medical form/report from the treating physician at the respective health institution will be required.
In its decision, the Supreme Committee cautioned that the heads of government and private units should take the necessary measures to implement controls and called on government and private institutions to set up a mechanism to regulate the process of entry of employees to its institutions. In addition, the supervisory authorities, each in its field of competence, must take all control measures for institutions that violate the decisions of the Supreme Committee.
Visitors of government units, private sector facilities, and users of public transportation, should also be completely vaccinated, i.e. two doses of any of the approved COVID-19 vaccines in Oman, from October 15, 2021.
