Tropical depression develops into tropical storm

Muscat: A deep tropical depression that is currently located in the northeast of the Arabian Sea deepened into a tropical storm. Tropical storm Shaheen is now located about 590 km from the coast of the Sultanate.

Oman Meteorology said: "The deep tropical depression that is currently located in the northeast of the Arabian Sea deepened into a tropical storm (Shaheen), with wind speeds ranging around the centre ranging between 34-63 knots. The associated clouds are 410 km from Ras Al Hadd and are expected to move northwest along the Pakistani coast."

It added that the tropical storm is stationed in the northeast of the Arabian Sea, and its centre is about 590 km from the nearest point from the coast of the Sultanate (Ras Al Hadd).
