Nadhira Al Harthy summits eighth highest mountain in the world

Muscat: An Omani climber has succeeded in reaching the top of the eighth highest mountain in the world.

"Climber Nadhira bint Ahmed Al Harthy succeeded in reaching the summit of Mount Manaslu in Nepal, the eighth highest mountain in the world, with a height of 8,163 metres above sea level," Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.

ONA added that the Omani climber, who recorded the raising of the Omani flag at the top of this mountain for the first time in the history of the Sultanate, began her administrative and technical preparations for the new personal record several months ago.The actual climb to the top of the mountain took 25 days, of which three days were for the uphill and downhill trip from the final camp and the ascent and descent from the final camp to the summit took 15 hours.
