Muscat: A decision has been issued by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation to establish Duqm College in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) in Al Wusta Governorate.
"The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation issued a ministerial decision to establish Duqm College, located in Al Wusta Governorate in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm. The college is subject to the laws, regulations and decisions regulating universities and private colleges in force in the Sultanate," Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.
The college intends to offer its academic programmes in the fields of humanities, engineering, science and technology, and to establish a vocational studies department that will focus on training, employment and entrepreneurship in the fields of logistics, marine sciences, sustainability and emerging technologies, urban development and construction.
Duqm college is currently working on completing all the academic requirements which include completing the approvals related to the academic regulations and obtaining a license for academic programmes in accordance with the principles and procedures followed by the Ministry.
After the approval of the Ministry, the college will be granted the appropriate academic qualifications in accordance with the National Academic Qualifications Framework.
